Repairs to Bikeway in Bedford
We’ll be starting repairs to the (Bedford) Minuteman Bikeway July 2 (Wed). The first phase will be to remove the loam along the side of the path where the roots have penetrated the asphalt. The following week, a crew will be on site to cut the roots. For both of these weeks, the bikepath will be open, and we’ll have a police detail with the contractor to warn users of the work.
Following the root cutting work, we’ll be sawcutting the asphalt to remove the roots under the pavement. This work will have temporary gravel patches for a day, but will be level with the path. The gravel patches will be paved while we wait for the final phase. Again, we expect the bikepath to be open while we remove the roots. We don’t have a schedule yet from the planer and paver contractors, but it looks like that will be in August.
Note, the Town line is between Westview and Wiggins (last two street crossings before the Depot terminus).
When we are closer to the planing/paving dates in Aug, I will post detour options/map (Wiggins-Loomis, South Rd, Westview Cemetery, ...)
Please respect the work crews. Questions/comments/complaints should be sent to BedfordBike@gmail.com
